Gymnastics

Two gymnastic squads made up of children from Year 3 and 4 and Year 5 and 6 recently took part in a competition with children from across the borough. The children had to compete in a series of different events including various stretches to different floor exercises. The children did their best concentrating on their posture, their body positions and form. The staff accompanying them were very proud of the manner in which they behaved from supporting one another to encouraging and cheering on children from other schools too.

Well done to the Year 5/6 squad who came 2nd in the competition and the Year 3/4 squad who came 4th overall.

Cross Country

12 Year 5 children recently represented the school in a Cross Country Race. They travelled to Finsbury Park to take part in two competitions, both a boy’s and girl’s race. The children showed great sporting characteristics: motivation to compete to the best of their ability, persevering when they were tired and sportsmanship as they supported one another and other children taking part in the race. Well done to all who took part in the race – making it successfully around two laps of the circuit. A special well done to Bianca who came in at 3rd place out of over 100 other competitors.1 2 3

Swimming Gala Final

Following on from their success in the preliminaries of the swimming gala, a group of Year 5 and 6 spent an evening at Ironmonger Road Baths to compete within the final. The children did so well to get so far in the competition and we even came away with two medals – Scarlett, Year 6, came 2nd in her individual breaststroke event alongside Bianca, Year 5, who gained a gold medal! The Year 6 relay team also worked very hard to improve their 5th place finish from the preliminaries to 4th place – narrowly missing out on a medal! We are so proud of all of the children who took part. Well done.
